Just because someone has a particular sexual orientation, doesn't mean that they have a consistent political agenda or that it is the cornerstone of their political beliefs. Look at the Log Cabin Republicans. Can't you be gay, support lower taxes, increased defense spending, etc.? In fact, if the Republican Party will still home to libertarians, there would probably be a lot of gay support.<BR/><BR/>The lack of black support for the Republican Party can only be attributed to the policies supported by the Republican Party. Remember that less than 70 years ago blacks were the most solidly Republican voting block. The result of Nixon's "Southern Strategy" has been that the racists and bigots of the Democratic Party have switched allegience to the Republican Party. Second, African Americans are the most consistent voting block in the United States. In 2004, only 11% of African Americans voted for President Bush. Even 23% of homosexuals voted for President Bush. However, if you look at the women who represent both political parties, you see Hilary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice. Notice how Hilary got where she is through her husband, while Condi is a strong independent, single woman? Also, she is the most powerful African American women in the history of the United States. To characterize Republicans as racist or sexist is moronic. African Americans are their own impediment to being in the Republican Party. Remember how Stan and Kyle were arguing for the flag because violence is everywhere? The point is that when you see people in terms of color, race, sex or anything else, you are discriminating and distinguishing between them, which implies they are different. I was Chairman of the Virginia Tech College Republicans for a year and a half. For one thing, that picture is three years old. For another, Ms. O'Neil's conduct at the CPAC convention and her statements in the Roanoke Time's today are an embarrassment to her self, her club, to those of us who worked so hard to make that club mean something within the Republican Party, and to Republicans everywhere. It is because of attitudes like hers that many of the people in that picture who are still at Virginia Tech are no longer associated with the College Republicans.
